Villa Gunnel is a private cabin located in a village on the island Yxlan in the swedish region Roslagen. The building is situated in an area between a spruce forest and the village with some really old victorian summer recidences once built by wealthy salesmen familys from Stockholm. The shape of the house gives an answer to the tricky situation the site provides: its long, narrow shape and the fact that the sun moves from the opposite side as the great view over the sea. The used materials are those found directly at the site, simple spruce is used for all wooden parts. The thin framed windows provides outer frames of aluminum and inner frames of wood. The interior stone wall is made of the typical granite stone all the surrounding islands are made of and gives the whole archipelago its typical look.
